Meet The Friendly Xennial Gamer…

Hi, I’m Owen.

I’m an adult gamer who grew up in the era of cartridges, rentals, arcades, and TV sets the size of furniture — and never stopped caring about the hobby. The Friendly Xennial Gamer is where I explore modern gaming and tech through that lens: with curiosity, perspective, nostalgia, and a healthy resistance to hype.

Before FXG, I earned my tech and gaming stripes working in retail, with stints at Apple, GameStop, Blockbuster, and even Kay Bee Toys! I learned how products are actually sold, marketed, and experienced by real people — not just talked about online.

I’ve also built a long career in theatre and public-facing creative work, which means I love being on camera, I’m used to engaging live audiences, and I’m passionate about communication and storytelling.

Alongside my creative work, I’ve spent a significant part of my professional life in administrative, marketing, and tech-adjacent roles — managing projects, systems, messaging, and workflows behind the scenes. That background shapes how I approach gaming and hardware today: I’m interested not just in what’s exciting, but in what’s well-designed, thoughtfully marketed, and actually worth your time and money.

FXG focuses on modern consoles, PC gaming, displays, and the evolving reality of being a lifelong gamer with adult responsibilities. No console wars. No outrage farming. Just honest conversation, genuine enthusiasm, and a little perspective earned over time.

At the end of the day, this channel exists because gaming is still fun — and it’s even better when the discussion around it is thoughtful, welcoming, and grounded. Join me!
